JeeJa Yanin - is Thailand's next rising martial arts movie star. The only thing about it -- she is a female!
This 25 year old, 5'2 petite female is redefining everything that could be said about a petite female. She is fast, strong and is fierce. In her 2008 release of "Chocolate" she plays an autistic girl (Zin), the product between her thai mother and her husband a japanese Yakuza heir, who possessed the extraordinary skill to learn martial arts by watching TV and the neighboring Muay Thai boxers. Her skills are being put to use when she is trying to collect money for her mother from past debtors to pay for her chemo treatment. However, she didn't know that her mother was involved with a thai gangster, which forced her husband to move back to Japan in order to assure Zin's and her mother's safety. Zin collecting the money opens old wounds which results in fierce fight scenes that you only see in a Jackie Chan, Jet Li or Tony Jaa movie
Jeeja Yanin is just as good as her male counterparts, she does her own stunts as well. She trained for 2 years for her role in "Chocolate" as she came hand picked by the producers of "Ong-Bak". Eventhough she was already an Taek-Won-Do expert, the producer wanted her to be more versed in other martial arts and acrobatics. In addition "Chocolate" took another 2 years to shoot.
It is incredible to see the type of preparations asian martial arts movies go through to ensure that the fighting to be at best and natural as possible. All the actors do their own stunts and there a LOT of injuries during the making of "Chocolate"
Her next role is in "Raging Phoenix" which incorporates break-dancing and muay thai
